Ron's mother died in 1936 but had been ill for some time. His sister Rhonda helped raise the children.

When their daughter was born, the family was living in South Melbourne across the road from the Sweppts family. They applied for government housing due to an infestation of rodents and the effect it was having on the daughter's health. The family then moved to 43 Frankston St Regent where they stayed until the children left home. Ron sold a block of land in Ivanhoe near the fire brigade station and purchased a block at 10 Happy Valley Ave, Blairgowrie and had a builder errect the frame and outside cladding and Ron finished the house inside with lining board supplied by Containers. The family would go down to Blairgowrie on weekends in the late 1950s.

Ron was a fitter and turner and worked at C. Homer Frazer in Plenty Rd Preston for many years. They were production fitters and turners making such things as automatic opening doors.

Ron and Noreen shifted to Blairgowrie after the children left home where he finally died.

Ronald married Noreen Natalie BOURNE, daughter of Edwin Henry BOURNE and Eunice Sybil (Sybil) HOLMES, on 14 Nov 1942 in Holy Trinity Church, East Melbourne, Vic. (Noreen Natalie BOURNE was born on 15 Jun 1921 in Hobart, Tasmania, died on 16 May 2003 in Rosebud, Vic and was buried in Rye Cemetery, Vic.). The cause of her death was Cancer.
