"Ilantrisant and Cymer, JOHN EVAN AND ANN LEWIS
The family to which I now turn was not an immigrant one. It had long associations with the ancient borough of Llantrisant, of which several generations of its members were freemen. John Evan (I), shoemaker, Llantrisant., married Margaret Jenkins, spinster, in 1791. It seems likely that he was the "John.Evans, cordwainer" admitted a freeman on the 25th Oct., 1788. (Reference 10). Three sons were born to the marriage, John (II), Evan and David."*
