John was born John Coffin but changed his name to John Moore (Moors) when he was convicted when he was 40. He was married with children in England before coming to Tasmania where he later married a second time.
Residence 6 July 1846 to 25 February 1851 Prison Hulk. Convicted at Wells for stealing with a prior conviction for stealing a seive(2 Months)
Departed England in Feb 1851 on the ship Cornwall and arrived Van Dieman's Land 11 June 1851. He received a 10 year sentence for larceny.
Buried in Roman Catholic Section, Record No 1B 1635 Section A Number 98. Buried with his wife Mary (Matilda) Moore, son George Henry Moore, 2 month old daughter Lilian Marion Moore and also Bridget Murray.
