bullet  General Notes:

Birth Date from the Welsh Family Bible.

As a child, Harold lived in Melbourne and went to Tyler St State school with his sister Mary in the same class. They were in the grade photo together.

1911 Census Age: 18 Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. Occupation Apprentice Electronic Engineer
Later he became an Electrical Engineer

Married in the 4 quarter of 1914

Harold and Amy lived at 27 Althorp Road, Luton, Bedfordshire 1917-18 as shown by letters written by them. Harold was keen to go to South Africa as indicated in a letter written by Amy - see Amy notes.

His mother also wrote " We received a letter from Amy last Monday week.......Harold sent the ticket back. It is to be either cancelled or refunded...... It would be useless for Harold to come here now, he could not get employment. We think he must be earning quite a decent wage. He must put some money away and pay his own passage. He lost his chance by not coming when we sent for him over 2 years ago. " 22 March 1916 33 Tenth St Boksburg North.

In September 1919 his father Gwilym, was making arrangements for Harold to immigrate to Australia and had to pay 40 pound deposit and pay 5 pound per month for the London Office of the Department of Labor. As his son had previously been in Victoria no contribution could be made by the State. The net fares for Amy and the children would be 56 pounds and 16 shillings.

In Australia, Harold made a model aeroplane for his nephew Frank and it had a 3 foot wing span. From Frank's drawing of it it was a biplane. He also made a kite for Frank which in Frank's drawing ended stuck in the electricity wires. This also must have made a big impression. Frank thought highly of Harold although there were some issues with his wife Amy as Frank was the grandson living with Gwilym and Mary and treated as a son, while Harold was the son.

In 1924 he lived in newport Vic and in 1931 he lived in Footscray North.
In the 1950's, they lived in a red brick house in 81 Rose St Essendon opposite the Essendon Station next to a group of shops. Our family visited them at the residence and I recall meeting Joan. The house was close to the street with a small front yard and the lounge room was quite dark.

Died aged 74 in 1967 Reg No 19358 with death place Parkville, Vic. His father was listed as Gwilyne.
