Elizabeth Allan lived in Newcastle on Tyne England and married Thomas Wood when she was 23 at Heyworth Durham England. They sailed to Australia on the boat "Joshua" which left South Hampton on 24th of June 1854 and arrived in Geelong Vic in 1854 with their three children Elizabeth 11 yrs, George 8 yrs and Ann 2 yrs.
Her Death Certificate No is 3469 dated 5th May 1872 indicating she died at East Ballarat of Disentery after having the illness for 14 days. Elizabeth was a widow when she died as Thomas died earlier the same year. The certificate also gives us her parents which seem to be George Amiery Allan and Tallow Chandler. Elizabeth also bore two other unnamed children who had died.
Elizabeth Wood was buried in open ground in the New Ballarat Cemetery on 7 May 1872.
